Tahiti, French Polynesia hosts the 2nd ICF Ocean Racing World Championships

After the successful 1st edition of the Ocean Racing Word championships in 2013, the Tahitian Kayak Federation and the Country of Tahiti Nui will host the 2nd edition of this major event in the paradisiac French Polynesia.

Already with big history in ocean racing in Va`a events and also with more than 10 years in Surfski boats, the Organizing committee promises a spectacular event, next October, with a 3 day window, from 2nd to 4th.

The event will have 30 kilometres downwind race, with Juniors, Under 23 and open and also Masters, Men and women in SS1.

The 1st world Champion Sean Rice from South Africa is already one of the many confirmed entries in this event, as well as the Australian Teneale HATTON, U23 world Champion in Portugal in 2013, among many others that will fight for the 2015 world title.

The start will be in Marina of Hitia, from the sand, and where will be built a ranked alignment for the best paddlers. The start will be at the same time for all participants, creating a massive beginning of this event.

After the first 6 kilometres, paddlers will find the hot spot buoys, with a prize money of 250 euros for the first Men and first women to cross.
The finish, to be reached after passing some spectacular landscapes like point papenoo Point Venus Mahina will be set in the black sand of Lafayette Beach, right in front of the event headquarters, the phenomenal Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort.

Finish line will be again on sand, with separated lines for Men and Women.

Although many world titles will be settle in this event, a special attention will be given for the first 7th overall paddlers in Men and Women, that will be awarded also with prize money in a total amount around 15.000 euros.
